星間塵の組成・大きさから見る星間物質循環

Research Abstract

本研究では、星間塵をサブミクロン粒子からなる凝集体とモデル化することによって、科学研究費の交付期間内に、星間塵の組成を明らかにしその場測定および全ての周波数領域での観測結果と矛盾のない光散乱特性を明らかにすることを目的としている。平成19年度の研究では、まず、平成18年度の研究から得られた星間塵の組成から塵の構成物質の同定を行った。ここで、星間塵の組成が彗星塵や惑星間塵の組成と類似していることから、彗星起源だと考えられている地球外起源固体微粒子の構成物質の情報を用いて星間塵凝集体モデルを構築した。この星間塵凝集体モデルを彗星塵のモデルとして用いると、可視から遠赤外線まで全ての周波数領域での彗星塵観測結果を再現することができた。これによって、星間塵凝集体モデルは、彗星塵の形成・進化を理解する上で重要な役割を果たすことが示された。特に、NASAディープインパクト・ミッションの観測結果におけるこれまでの解釈では、彗星核さらに太陽系形成期の環境について完全に間違った認識を与えていたことがわかった。次に、星間塵凝集体モデルで星間減光スペクトルの数値計算を行った。可視光から近赤外線までの波長領域では、計算結果と観測データを比較することで、星間塵の主要物質である有機物などの炭素質物質に関して制約を付ける可能性を示唆した。
