Abstract

本研究では、不均質性を特質とするインターネット上のコンテンツを活用するシステムの実現を目指し、大きく以下の4つのモジュールに研究を分けて、相互に連絡を取りつつ研究を進めた。

(1)社会・利用分析:インターネット・コンテンツの導入が社会における情報利用活動をどのように変えたかを検討し、その知見に基づいて情報活用システムのあり方の大枠を定義する。不均質性は一定の情報ユニットを前提とした上での不均質性に留まらず、情報ユニットの規定不能性に至ることを明らかにした。これにより、インターネット情報資源における情報活用と情報編集の不可分性を確認した。

(2)Web構造解析:情報活用・編集のためには、(a)ページ相互の関係の分析と(b)ページ内の処理とが必要になる。本年度は、リンク構造に基づく効率的なページ・グループ化の手法および言語表現に基づくページ・クラスタリング手法を提案するとともに、HTMLテーブルを利用した情報抽出技術を開発した。

(3)メディア処理:Web上の多メディア情報環境に関しては、各メディア特性に応じた処理の高度化と統合処理とが必要になる。言語・音声・視覚メディアの結節点としての映像を対象に、アーカイブ構造化をはかり画像検索法を開発した。

(4)これらの諸研究を有機的に関連づけながら進めるために必要な基盤として、また、他の研究グループとの交流のために、Web情報をプールしたテストベッドを構築し、諸研究者が参加する情報活用のワークショップを行った。
