| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to capture the overall picture of contemporary offender treatment from historical, empirical, theoretical and normative perspectives, focusing on various practices that can be defined as 'post-risk model.' Although it is the 'risk model' practices represented by cognitive behavioural therapy that are currently focused with much attention in the field, we can observe the rise of the 'post-risk model' practices in parallel with them. As a result of the research, several new insights from the perspectives of sociology and critical criminology into theoretical and normative challenges of the 'post-risk model' practices are provided.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、従来注目されてきた「リスクモデル」の犯罪者処遇に加え、「ポスト・リスクモデル」の犯罪者処遇の出現過程とその概要を把握することめざした。それにより、現在および未来の犯罪者処遇のあり方について議論する際に、「リスクモデル」を前提としてそれを評価ないし批判するだけでは不十分であり、「ポスト・リスクモデル」の犯罪者処遇が内在させている問題点や、「リスクモデル」と「ポスト・リスクモデル」の関係性についての経験的・理論的考察を踏まえた、規範的・臨床的・政策的な議論がなされなければならない、ということを示唆したことが本研究の大きな学術的・社会的意義である。
