研究概要（最新報告）
本研究の目的は、エコロジーや環境をめぐるキリスト教・宗教思想を、近代科学(ニュートン主義から進化論)とキリスト教自然神学(ボイル講義からペイリーまでの生命論を中心に)との関わりを実証的に論じる中で、具体的に展開することであった。研究の具体的な内容は以下の通りである。
(1)キリスト教と近代科学との関係をめぐる代表的なキリスト教思想史研究を参照しつつ、17世紀以降の自然神学の意味を一次資料に基づいて解明することを試みた.これによって、自然神学をめぐる議論こそが、進化論に至るイギリスのキリスト教思想を特徴づけるものであることが明らかにされた。
(2)ニュートン主義の自然神学における生命論を、「ボイル講義」(とくに、ベントリー、デラム、レイ)のテキストと、その集大成と言えるペイリーの『自然神学』とをもとにして分析し、自然神学の生命論の環境思想としての意義を論じた。また、自然神学の生命論からダーウィンの進化論への思想史的展開を跡づけ、進化論とキリスト教思想との関係をめぐる多様な立場を整理した。
(3)現代キリスト教思想における「エコロジーの神学」「宗教と科学の関係論」を概観し、キリスト教におけるエコロジー神学の理論的基礎を言語論あるいはモデル論の観点から明確化することを試みた。
The results of this research can be summarized as the following.
1. I aimed to argue the meaning of christian toughts about ecology and environment on the historical research over the relations between modern science (from Newtonian physics to the theory of evolution) and christian natural theology (especially Newtonianism) after the 17th century. As for the development of natural science in England, it become clear that the biological studies (the studies of natural history) related to the theory of life of natural theology closely.
2. I tried to make clear that the theory of life of natural theology is important for the ecological thought today. For this purpose, I analyzed the textbooks of Boyle Lectures (especially, the lectures of Bentley, Derham), John Ray (The Wisdom of God 1691) and William Paley (Natural Theology 1802) in detail from the viewpoint of ecology.
3. I saveyed the trends of contemporary theological thoughts over the relationship between religion and science, and. the ecology. It became clear that the theories of language and model in modern thoughts are effective as the basis of the ecological theology.
