Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は昨年度までに取り組んでいた行列模型における特性多項式・外場の双対性の研究をより一般的な枠組みへと発展させるため，その幾何学的構造に着目した研究を行った．この双対性は，行列模型における古典極限に対応する行列サイズの大きい極限において現れる幾何学 (スペクトル曲線と呼ばれるリーマン面) を通して見ると自然な解釈が可能である．ここで現れるリーマン面の構造は他にも可積分系や超対称ゲージ理論においても現 れ，これらの系に対しても前述の双対性に類似の性質がしばしば見出されている．昨年度までの行列模型の研究から，この双対性が古典理論のみならず量子化した理論においても成り立つことが示唆されており，実際に超対称ゲージ理論におけるその量子的双対性の研究を行った．特に着目しているのは4次元 N = 2 超対称ゲージ理論と呼ばれる理論で，20年ほど前から Seiberg-Witten 理論を通して幾何学的な視点や可積分系との関係が議論されており，例えば箙型ゲージ理論の Seiberg-Witten 幾何から双対性に関連した興味深い性質を導き出すことが出来る．本年度は箙型ゲージ理論を用いた (q-変形) W代数の構成法を提案し，この方法に基づいて従来知られていなかった様々なW代数の新たな性質を明らかにした．具体的には，ゲージ理論には双基本表現場と呼ばれる物質場に質量を与えることが可能であるが，この質量パラメータはW代数の新たな質量変形になっていること．またアフィン型箙によって未知のW代数を新たに構成出来ることを示した．その他，トポロジカル絶縁体・超伝導体と呼ばれる新しい物質相の研究も，格子場の理論や超対称ゲージ理論，超弦理論などの場の量子論的な観点から行い，成果を上げている．
