Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,海中で光を伝送するときに生じる散乱によって生じる光ビームの広がりによる干渉を抑圧し,かつ複数機器による同時通信が可能な高速光無線通信方式の実現を目指す.これは複数の送信局の識別と光の散乱によるビーム広がりの干渉を抑圧するための空間軸方向に施したCDMA(符号分割多元接続)技術と時間軸方向に施した光無線通信に適したOFDM(直交周波数分割多重)技術によって実現する.なお,ここでは電波による場合と異なり,負の振幅が使用出来ないことを考慮した方式を考える.また,その際に信号処理の複雑化による回路規模と電力の増大が問題になるが,その小規模化と省電力化についても検討する.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we have investigated an underwater high-speed optical wireless communication system that suppresses interference caused by the scattering of light, enabling multiplex communication. The system is realized by using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology in the spatial axis direction, and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology in the time axis direction to identify multiple transmitters and suppress interference caused by the scattering of light, and the system takes into account that negative amplitudes cannot be used in optical communication. In addition, methods to reduce circuit size and consumed power due to the complexity of signal processing were investigated to realize a practical system.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

四方を海に囲まれた島国の日本にとって,海洋資源の調査や開発,発掘は重要な課題であり,海底での状況を海上の船舶にリアルタイムに高解像度の映像を送れることが望まれる.海中で高速通信するためには複数の発光素子による並列伝送を行うことが考えられるが,水中での光の散乱によるビーム拡散を避けることが出来ず,隣の発光素子からの光による干渉が誤り率低下を生じさせる.本研究では,このビーム拡散による干渉を抑圧出来る相関特性を有する拡散系列を設計し,その系列を空間領域に用いた光CDMA方式と,時間領域に用いた光OFDM方式をそれぞれ適用した新しい光無線通信方式を与え,上記目標を達成出来る見通しを立てた.
