Outline of Final Research Achievements

As the management team of the research area “Correspondence and Fusion of Artificial Intelligence and Brain Science", we aimed to promote collaborations of researchers inside and outside the researrh area, to train young researchers in the interdisciplinary research field, and to publicize the research accomplishments widely to the society.
The Planning and Executive Committee held area meetings twice a year to promote joint research, and organized joint symposia and workshops to provide the forums for discussions among researchers from wide fields.The Development Support Committee held the "Brain Science and Artificial Intelligence" summer school twice and supported the dispatches of students and researchers between labs for continuous joint research.The Public Relations Committee publicized the research results through updating the area website, publishing newsletters, and holding outreach events.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

領域研究者の幅広い共同研究により、人工知能技術の脳科学への応用、脳科学の知見に基づく新たな人工知能の開発の両面で、新たな研究をスタートし多数の論文として出版することができた。また人工知能と脳科学の融合研究の可能性を、学生から社会人まで幅広い層に知らせることができた。
