Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本領域は、我が国が世界をリードするハドロン物理、原子核物理、原子物理、分子科学分野の研究者の力を結集し、階層間の壁を超えた連携研究を推進するものである。異なる物質の階層間に出現する多彩なクラスター現象を通じ、階層をつなぎ、個々の階層を超えた量子多体系の普遍的な現象や法則を見出し、物質における階層構造の起源の解明を目指している。
総括班の目的はそれぞれの物質階層の分野を超えて研究交流・連携を進め、共同研究を醸成し、本領域の目的達成を確実にすることである。そのため、総括班会議の開催、研究集会の開催、若手研究者の育成、検出器・測定技術の共有・機器の共用促進、国際活動支援、広報・アウトリーチ活動、外部評価のアレンジメントの７つの活動を主として行っている。
４年目となるR3年度は、新型コロナ感染拡大に伴い対面での研究会活動が制限される中、領域研究会を２回開催し、1回はオンラインで行ったが、12月に行った第7回の研究会は2年ぶりに対面を主とするハイブリッド開催とした(東北大電子光理学研究センター）。また、一つのトピックを深掘りして議論する「物質階層を横断する会」をオンラインで2回開催し、「ダイクォーク」「ダイニュートロン」というそれぞれハドロン階層と原子核階層で注目される強相関フェルミ粒子対を主テーマとして議論し、階層間をつなぐ普遍性と違いについての理解を深めた。一方、クラスター勉強会を3回開催し、各階層で活躍する講師をそれぞれ一人お呼びし、時間をかけて質疑応答し議論を行った。国際レクチャーシリーズはオンラインで海外の研究者による講義(3回）を開催した。さらに若手育成のため、SNPスクールを共催するとともに、3月には3名の講師を迎えてスクールをオンラインで主催した。

Reason

新型コロナ感染の広がりによる対面型研究会が制限される中、領域研究会を2回開催し連携強化に成功した。特に12月に行った領域研究会は東北大学において対面を主とする研究会であり、若手を中心としたポスター発表も開催するなど、連携のみならず若手育成という観点でも成果があった。ダイクォークとダイニュートロンというそれぞれハドロン階層、原子核階層における特異なフェルミ粒子対について理解を深掘りするため「物質階層を横断する会」をシリーズで開催し、階層をつなぐ普遍性とその違いについて徹底的に議論した。さらに、クラスター勉強会を3回、国際レクチャーシリーズを3回オンライン開催するなどし、異なる分野を互いに深く学ぶ場が設けられ、連携強化が図られた。若手育成に関しては、国際的なスクールInternational School for Strangeness NuclearPhysics (SNP School 2021)を共催するとともに、三人の講師を招いた領域スクールを主催した。
以上のように順調に連携研究の支援が進んだことからおおむね順調に進展しているとした。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

階層を繋ぐ連携研究をより進展させるとともに、R4年度は最終年度であるため成果の総括をする。そこで、総括班会議や戦略会議を行い、主催する研究会やワークショップを通して、具体的な連携研究にむけた取り組みを加速する。物質階層を横断する会、国際レクチャーシリーズ、クラスター勉強会、インフォーマルミーティングを活用して、連携研究を進展させる。さらに、2回目となる国際会議を主催し、国際的な見地で本領域研究を俯瞰する。こうして本領域研究の総括を進める。
