Research Abstract

生物の持つ複雑で巧妙な形態・機能の獲得には、RNA段階での遺伝子発現制御プログラムが極めて重要な役割を果たします。発生・分化の基本原理としての「非対称性」と遺伝子産物の「多様性」の獲得原理を理解するためには、RNAレベルでの制御（RNAプログラム）を包括的に理解する必要があります。本新学術領域研究「多様性と非対称性を獲得するRNAプログラム（RNA制御学）」は、このRNAプログラムの分子機構とその生理的意義の解明を目指しました。RNAレベルでの制御を研究する若手ならびに中堅の研究者を中心とした組織を構成し、手法、材料や情報を共有しながら交流を行い、研究を進めました。分子・細胞レベルから遺伝学を用いた高次生命現象解析まで、幅広いアプローチでRNA研究を展開し必要に応じて共同研究を積極的に進めました。平成２０－２４年度までの研究期間において、計画研究のみならず公募研究においても優れた研究成果を上げる事ができ、当初の目的を概ね達成できました。また、多数の若手ならびに中堅研究者がプロモーションされました。領域内の連携を促進する支援班活動等を行った結果、共著論文も発表することが出来ました。平成２５年度は、理化学研究所や関連する新学術領域研究「非コードRNA」とRNA Sciences in Cell and Developmental Biology III共催した、内外のRNA研究者から高い評価をうけ、本領域における優れた研究を国内外に宣伝する非常に良い機会となりました。また、研究成果報告書を作成し、班員と評価者の先生方、関連分野の研究者に配布しました。
