Outline of Research at the Start

学術変革領域研究(A)「2.5次元物質科学:社会変革に向けた物質科学のパラダイムシフト」の領域研究をダイナミックに推進するための組織運営を行う。本総括班の積極的な活動を通じて、領域内での学術研究の推進と優れた成果の創出、将来を担う若手研究者の育成、ならびに応用研究や啓蒙活動を通じた社会貢献を総合的に展開していく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本領域研究の目標達成を支援するため、1年間に計7回の総括班ミーティングを実施し領域運営について議論を重ねるとともに、共同研究を含めた領域研究を活性化させて最大限の成果が得られるよう、以下の活動を行った。
(1)領域内研究者全員が発表する形式にて領域会議を開催(第5回大阪大学(参加者115名)、第6回名古屋大学(参加者109名))し、共同研究進捗の共有および新たな連携を構築した。(2)共同利用拠点の組織的運営(2023年度の利用件数88件)、Spring-8などの大型施設の利用支援を行い、領域における研究の推進を図った。(3)社会・国民への成果発信として第1回公開シンポジウムをオンラインにて開催した(事前参加登録者数185名)。ホームページの拡充やSNSを利用した情報発信、ニュースレター(12~28号の年17号)および領域内研究室を題材にしたマンガ(第3~5話)の発行、領域研究に関する書籍の発行を支援した。(4)若手会の開催(第2回北海道大学(参加者46名))、海外インターンシップ支援(台湾・英国に各1名)、領域会議でのポスター発表における若手奨励賞の設置(第5回受賞者9名、第6回受賞者7名)により、次世代の領域研究を担う人材育成に務めた。(5)年2回の領域会議の合間を補う形でオンラインにて領域内共同研究セミナーを年10回実施し、共同研究を促進した。(6)海外より著名な研究者を招聘し、対面にて国際ワークショップを開催した。年3回のオンライン国際連携セミナー(第6回・第8回は公開)の開催や国際イベントを共催することで国際的なネットワークの推進に尽力した。(7)産学官協働ミーティングを2回開催し、社会実装に向けた産学官連携を深めた。
上記に加え、物性科学領域横断研究会に参画し、物性科学に係る他領域との交流によって領域間のシナジー効果を高め、分野間の連携に貢献した。

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

イベント等による多くの施策により有機的連携が推進できており、領域内共同研究がNature誌に掲載されるなど、個々の研究はもとより、領域研究だからこそ為し得た成果が表面化してきた。また、国際ワークショップや公開セミナー等により国内外に向け領域における優れた成果を積極的に発信することができた。公開シンポジウムの参加者に実施したアンケートでは領域運営に関して高評価が得られており、領域内外からの意見を収集することで一方的ではなく多角的な視点から施策を講じることができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

第2期公募研究として新たに研究者が加わるため、より有機的連携を深めていけるよう、例年同様の活動に加え、見本市や研究会のイベントを計画し、領域研究の活性化を図る。
また、優れた研究成果を国民に向け発信するため、公開シンポジウムの開催を予定している。
さらに国際共同研究の促進および日本の研究を世界にアピールするため、国際的な活動を強化する。2024年9月に英国ケンブリッジ大学とチェコ共和国ヘイロフスキー物理化学研究所を領域研究者10名ほどで訪問し、共同ワークショップを開催する計画で現在準備を進めている。2025年には二次元材料に関する高レベルの国際会議RPGRを本領域主体で開催する方向で、招致するための活動も並行して進める。
昨年までに引き続き、インターンシップや国内留学などを含めた若手育成の取り組みや、産学官連携イベントによる社会変革に向けた取り組みも行っていく。
