Outline of Research at the Start

本研究領域は、細胞内タンパク質に人工的な翻訳後修飾(neo-PTMs)を導入することによって細胞内化学ネットワークを創出し、その変化を理解し、それを役立てる学理を構築することを目的とするものである。
総括班は、本領域活動を円滑に推進させるとともに、将来のより広範な科学領域にまたがる研究への展開や・新たな共同研究の模索を視野に以下の4つの活動を行う。
(I)領域目標の共有の徹底、(II)施設・設備・技術の共同利用の活性化、(III)関連異分野を巻き込んだシンポジウム開催、(IV)人材育成支援。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research area, we aimed to introduce artificial post-translational modifications (neo-PTMs) into cells, and to understand and utilize the intracellular chemical network newly created by the neo-PTMs. We regularly held Group meetings to manage the progress of each group's research and promote the formation of organic connections between the groups. In addition, by holding symposiums and other events, we disseminated research in the field both domestically and internationally, deepened exchanges with researchers from outside the field, and laid the foundations for developing into larger collaborative research. Furthermore, in order to disseminate the content of research in the field to society and the public, we created a website for the field, explaining the research content and results in easy-to-understand language.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

総括班活動の結果として、各計画班研究の有機的なつながりが形成され、領域研究の推進力を向上させることができたと考えている。また、領域主催のシンポジウムや他領域と共同開催したワークショップにより、将来的な連携研究の芽を見出すことができた。これらの活動を通じて多彩な分野にまたがる研究トピックを提供することで、将来を担う若手研究者の育成にも貢献できたと考えている。
