Outline of Research at the Start

光子対診断治療学の実現のため、域内計画研究の進捗と連携を相互把握し、研究方針策定・改善を継続的に実施する。A01診るB01測るC01創るD01解る班の円滑な運営を行う。 A01/C01班:原子分子評価、C01/D01班:理論/実験計画、A01/B01班:個体・細胞連携、B01/C01 班:分光精製等重点課題の課題管理・連携を推進するとともに、成果の発信を実施する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to realize a novel medical diagnostic technique for detecting intermolecular interactions through precise measurement of gamma photons correlated with nuclear spin. We first demonstrated pH-dependent anisotropy and, for the first time, showed the feasibility of pH sensing by binding In-111 to a DOTA-based metal radiotracer. Intracellular uptake detection was also experimentally verified. Additionally, we achieved a two-fold improvement in the signal-to-background ratio using quantum entangled PET, leveraging the entangled annihilation gamma photons of PET nuclides. We further developed a technique to detect vacancy size and oxygen concentration using the two- to three-photon decay ratio of positronium. A new cascade photon was also identified, and its emission mechanism was theoretically established. These results collectively achieved the objectives of the study.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

これまでは困難であった核医学領域における、量子センシング技術を新たに考案・開発し、pHやDOTA構造などの 物理化学パラメータの抽出およびイメージングに初めて成功・理論的に定式化した。特に既存で用いられているSPECT核種を用いた、新たなイメージング技術の開発に成功したことは極めて大きな意義を有している。加えて、PET核種におい て、量子もつれ状態を用いたイメージング性能(信号背景比)の改善を、F-18のイメージング画像から初めて示し た。さらに、新たなイメージング手法としてポジトロニウムの2光子/3光子比の利用を提案・可視化を実証し た。今後医学診断技術に与える意義は大きい。
