Outline of Research at the Start	本研究領域「Parasitomimetics：寄生虫が持つ高度機能因子の同定とその利用」はその名の通り寄生虫が持つ寄生適応能力を可能とする様々な因子を同定し、その性状解析を通して他分野への応用を目指す学問である。学術変革領域研究（B）においては、寄生虫の３区分、つまり原虫、蠕虫ならびに外部寄生虫について計画研究を１つずつ予定している。総括班としては、この分野を新規の学問として確立するために計画研究の推進をサポートするとともに、研究分野の周知活動を行い裾野の拡大に努める。
