Increasing number of citizens’ participation in the judicial system attracted more attention to practical issues such as legal education, criminal investigation, reasoning and judgment in trials, and rehabilitation. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to study human behaviors in the real legal systems, and researchers to collaborate with practitioners. The new research field "Law and Human Sciences" was to promote multidisciplinary scientific research to support and improve the legal practices and the criminal system. In order to achieve the goals, the steering group held the workshops, mock-trials, symposia, and provided information through HP and newsletters. After five years of activities, we recognize the increase in the research and practices in Law and Human Sciences, the use of own methodologies, and the number of researchers including graduate students. This trend suggests that new research field "Law and Human Sciences" has been established and is functioning.
