Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The Standard Model of particle physics precisely describes physical phenomena up to electroweak energy scales, its framework does not include dark matter and gravity, and it is believed that there are unknown interactions and symmetries and unknown heavy particles down to the Planck scale. In this study, unknown heavy particles were searched for in a wide mass range with diverse decay modes using the LHC, the world's highest energy collider. Although no new particles were discovered, the search area was extended across the board to several TeV. This dismissed theoretical models that had been considered promising and improved the accuracy of the direction in which particle physics will go in the future. In addition, a track trigger system was developed towards the High-Luminosity LHC experiment that greatly improved the sensitivity of the search for new heavy particles.
