Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We aimed to realize the ultimate performance of nano-material optical manipulation. We challenged how small particles and molecules can be trapped and selectively positioned, and how high spatial-resolution and precision can be achieved for the motion-control and manipulation of nano-materials. Specifically, 1) we tried to design optical forces exerted on nano-particles and molecules by shaping the amplitude, phase and polarization of the optical electric field on single-nanometer scale, 2) we challenged single molecular trapping and realized the optical manipulation techniques for assembling, alining, and orienting molecules, 3) we developed optical manipulation systems that dynamically transport, separate, sort, and collect molecules and nanoparticles by optical forces and torques.
