| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study group on Norm and Identity focused on the phenomenon that the national/ subnational relationship can be shown in the non-linguistic symbols such as visual arts, music, flags, costumes, performances, and graffiti which was drawn on the wall in the process of social movements, and tried to make the relational networks in the communities visible, which are often invisible and do not appear in an obvious way. The results of our analysis and arguments were published in the fifth volume (titled “Make Invisible relationship visible”) and seventh volume (titled “Connecting Local with Global”) of “Relational Studies on Global Crises”, a series published by Iwanami Shoten in 2020-21.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近代社会科学においては個と思考が基本で、関係性と感情は前近代的とみなされてきた。しかし、「グローバル関係学」の必要性を促した21世紀的「新しいグローバルな危機」の出現により、感情や不可視的なものへの関心が高まった。本計画研究は非文字文化を対象にさまざまな異なるアプローチでみえない感情を浮き彫りにし、地域研究的手法の意義を再認識するものとなっている。領域全体は、地域研究コンソーシアム研究企画賞を受賞したが、そこでは「「みえていないものをみる」地域研究の強みをさらに強化しようとする試みを示し…地域研究の研究にも大きなインパクトをもたらした」との評価を得た。
