Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Super-Kamiokande has been collecting data since 1996. We have improved the analysis methods of Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino and proton decay searches. With improvements, normal neutrino mass hierarchy and violation of particle-anti-particle symmetry (CP) are found to be favored. We searched for various decay modes of proton and neutron. Still, we could not find any statistically significant signature of decays, set 50% to more than ten times longer lifetime lower bound. These results are still statistically limited, and Hyper-Kamiokande, whose statistical power is much higher, will give us definite answers. We also succeeded in developing devices to further improve the physics capabilities of Hyper-Kamiokande.
