Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have developed a detector technology to search for neutrino-less double beta decay(0νββ) beyond the neutrino effective mass region of 100 meV/c2 by using a time projection chamber with xenon gas. These include an ionizing electron detection plane that can be modularized and enlarged, a signal waveform digitizer, a Cockcroft-Walton circuit and ring-shaped electrodes to generate a drift electric field, a circulation system to purify the gas, and low emission of the detector components. Incorporating these techniques into a 180-liter gas vessel, we succeeded in obtaining high energy resolution for electrons near the 0νββ energy as well as reconstructing the trajectory.
