Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research has been conducted with the aim of elucidating and realizing mechanisms for dialogue engagement, especially by the elderly and mental disabled. The Kyoto University group (Kawahara et al.) has developed a robot that conducts attentive listening with various methods of generating empathic responses. The Osaka University group (Yoshikawa et al.) has developed a robot that develops dialogue by collaborating with multiple robots and by referring to people with whom it interacted before. Both groups, in collaboration with Prof. Kumazaki in group A01, conducted dialogue experiments using robots with psychiatric (mainly schizophrenic) day care users over a period of two years.
