| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was conducted as a planned research project under the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas “Hyper-adabability.” It investigated the mechanisms by which learners’ internal states, such as body cognition and motivation, influence motor learning and facilitate superadaptation. Regarding body cogniion, we specifically focused on quantifying the sense of agency in movement (i.e., the subjective feeling of being the agent of one’s actions) and elucidating how this sense promotes motor learning. We also developed non-invasive techniques to modulate the sense of agency. In terms of emotion, we established an original experimental paradigm to regulate animals’ motivation and examined the neural mechanisms by which motivation facilitates motor learning.
