Outline of Research at the Start

蓄電固体材料から構成されるヘテロ/ホモ界面では、バルクとは異なる特異なイオン輸送、蓄積特性が観測されている。これらは、蓄電固体界面近傍で局所的に生じる物理化学状態(イオン濃度・価数、化学ポテンシャル、電位、結晶/非晶質構造、歪など)の変調・分布が複雑に絡み合って発現すると考えられているが、その支配因子はほとんど理解されていない。本研究では、様々な最先端計測技術を結集し、蓄電固体界面近傍における各種物理化学状態の変調・分布を多角的に実測し、これらの知見を総合的、網羅的に融合することで、蓄電固体界面の物理化学的状態と特性を体系的に扱うことのできる新しい学理の構築へと繋げる。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The aim of this study was to systematically understand the unique ion transport and storage properties observed at the solid-state ionic interface by measuring the modulation and distribution of various physical/chemical states near the interface by using various analytical techniques and integrating these findings. Various advanced measurement techniques are developed for the analysis of the solid-state ionic interface. Common model hetero-interface system (cathode/electrolyte interface in all-solid-state batteries) and a common model homo-interface system (crystalline/amorphous interface in glass-ceramic solid electrolytes) were selected within this research project, and the developed advanced analytical techniques were applied. It was found that the modulation of physical/chemical states and associated unique phenomena observed at the solid-state ionic interface can be well-interpreted by considering the chemical potential of movable components.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本新学術領域では、4つの計画班が連携することで、蓄電固体界面での特異なイオン輸送、蓄積特性を体系的に理解できる学理を確立することを目的とし、その中で本研究(計画班A02)は高度計測を担当した。これまで、界面近傍で生じる様々な特性、現象の要因はほとんど理解されていなかったが、本新学術領域研究、本計画研究を通し、それらを明らかにすることができた。蓄電固体界面の特性、現象は、全固体電池などの全固体電気化学デバイスの性能を支配することが知られており、本研究での成果は、これらのデバイスの高性能化、高耐久性化を図る上で、材料選択、構造設計の重要な指針を与えるものであり、学術的意義、社会的意義は高い。
