Research Abstract |
Relationship between fluctuation and biological function has been elucidated by the time-resolved transient grating method, which has been developed in our group. By using this technique, we successfully discovered that the flexible loop region of a blue light sensor FKF1 is important for the function. The volume compressibilities of reaction intermediates of PixD were measured and demonstrated that the fluctuation is indeed enhanced during the reaction. Time-resolve heat capacities and thermal expansion coefficients were also measured for reaction intermediates which were directly related with the function. A new analytical method of a single molecular detection has been developed for obtaining high time resolved information of the fluctuation.
