| Research Abstract |
We have shown that the tetramer of hnRNP C measures the length of the RNA polymerase II transcripts, like a molecular ruler, and classifies them into either mRNA or U snRNA according to their lengths. We have also revealed factors involved in the nuclear retention of pre-mRNAs in mammalian cells. Furthermore, we have obtained new insights in the area of RNA export.
