Outline of Research at the Start

高速読み出し可能な天体観測用大型CMOSセンサーを開発する。これにより空間解像度の改善が期待され、より多くの銀河の形状を精密に測定することができるようになる。こうして、重力レンズ解析の精度が向上し、従来より高精度なダークマター密度分布の観測が可能となる。また高速読み出しによりもたらされる時間分解能の向上によりマイクロ重力レンズの観測パラメータを大きく広げることも可能となる。HSCを用いた大域的な重力レンズ測定とCMOSセンサーによる高分解能重力レンズ測定を組み合わせることで、多様な観測から高精度のダークマターモデルの検証を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

我々が開発したHyper Suprime-Cam等の観測でダークマターの大局的分布が明らかになりつつある。しかし、この観測からだけでは、ダークマターそのものの性質 (ダークマター粒子の質量や相互作用)に関する詳細な情報を得ることはできない。現在検討されている多様なダークマター粒子候補の違いは、銀河や銀河団の小 スケール密度分布の違いにあらわれるため、より高空間分解能を高めたダークマター密度分布の測定によってはじめてその観測的検証が可能となるためである。 我々は、高速読み出し可能なCMOSセンサーを開発し、ラッキーイメージングという手法を採用することで空間解像度を改善する。これにより、より多くの銀河の 形状を精密に測定することできるため、弱重力レンズ解析の制度を向上させ従来より高精度なダークマター密度分布の観測が可能になる。また高速読み出しによ りもたらされる、時間分解能の向上により、マイクロ重力レンズの観測パラメータを大きく広げることもできる。HSCを用いた大域的な重力レンズ測定とCMOSセン サーによる高分解能重力レンズ測定を組み合わせることで、多様な観測から高精度のダークマターモデルの検証を行うことが本研究の目標である。この目標に対する予備的な観測において、大きな成果が得られた。ハッブル宇宙望遠鏡の銀河団撮像データの詳細解析によって新しい超新星重力レンズを発見し、超新星の親星の性質やハッブル定数の測定などのサイエンスが可能であることを実証した。またガイア衛星の全天データを活用することで小分離角クエーサーペアを効率よく発見できることを実証し、高速CMOSカメラ観測のターゲット選定の準備が整った。

Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

CMOSの新規開発については、当初目標とした仕様のセンサーがFY23までに完成した。計画当初国内中口径望遠鏡での試験観測とすばる望遠鏡での本観測を目標にしていたが、前者はコロナの影響とその後の望遠鏡時間需要の関係で、時間を得ることが難しくなった。また、後者のすばる望遠鏡についても、FY23後半に、主鏡が損傷する事故に起因し、長期間観測が止まり、観測再開後も、本プロジェクトのような試験的観測が時間を取得できる可能性は少なくなった。そこで、アリゾナ大学との共同研究の枠組みがFY23より始まったことをきっかけに議論を始めた結果、アリゾナ大学が所有する口径2.2 mの望遠鏡の時間が得られることが決まった。これを受けて、搭載方法の検討、冷却デュワーの新規設計、読み出し配線の検討を行った。
また、高速CMOSカメラで狙うターゲットの一つが超新星重力レンズである。ラッキーイメージングにより点源の検出効率を高めることで、これまで宇宙望遠鏡で主に行われてきた重力レンズ超新星の発見、モニタ観測が地上からも可能となる。本研究の重要な成果として、ハッブル宇宙望遠鏡のアーカイブデータ解析から赤方偏移3の重力レンズ超新星を発見し、時間の遅れを利用して光度曲線の再構築を行い、親星が赤色超巨星であることを突き止めた。また、他の超新星重力レンズRefsdalの光度曲線の詳細解析を行い、ハッブル定数を約6%の精度で制限することに成功した。この成果は、超新星重力レンズが普遍的に存在すること、また宇宙物理や宇宙論の研究に非常に有用であることを実証したもので、高速CMOSカメラを用いて行う超新星重力レンズ研究の準備が整ったことを意味している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

FY23より新たに始まった、アリゾナ大学との共同研究の枠組み(国際先導研究)を最大限活用し、CMOSセンサー6個による観測を実施したい。
