Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、機能材料に存在する「超秩序構造」を対象として、マクロスケールの精密な物性測定及びX線ホログラフィーを利用したミクロな測定(原子配列計測と電子構造の同時計測)を行い、マクロ/ミクロの両面からの計測を通じて構造と機能性発現機構の関係を明らかにするものである。マクロ物性測定においては、国際宇宙ステーションにおける微小重力下での融体熱物性測定および地上におけるNMRや陽電子消滅法等、様々な計測を行う。ミクロの原子配列/電子構造の同時観測については、既存の軟X線装置による計測に加えて硬X線ホログラフィー装置の開発を行い、完成した装置をSPring-8に組み込んで実際の観測を実施する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、機能材料に存在する「超秩序構造」を対象として、マクロスケールの精密な物性測定及びX線光電子ホログラフィーを利用したミクロな測定(原子配列計測と電子構造の同時計測)を行い、マクロ/ミクロの両面からの計測を通じて構造と機能性発現機構の関係を明らかにするものである。
微小重力を用いた酸化物融体の熱物性計測においては、MgO-SiO2系について、国際宇宙ステーション搭載静電浮遊炉を用いて測定した密度と、放射光で測定したデータを用いて融体の原子構造モデルを構築した。また、2700℃程度の融点を持つ酸化ジルコニウムの浮遊溶融に成功した。
量子ビームを用いて構築された構造モデルと陽電子消滅法等の測定結果を合わせて、非晶質材料の構造と物性の相関の研究を進めている。今年度はゼオライトを出発原料とする非晶質SiO2の永久高密度化及び13族置換したリン酸塩ガラスにおける局所構造解析を実施し、成果を得ている。
SPring-8に設置した軟X線光電子ホログラフィー分光装置を用い、ドーピングにより機能性を発現する物質を研究対象として、ドーパント局所構造を元素および化学状態選択的に明らかにする実験を行なっている。今年度はWドープVO2とNドープダイヤモンドの光電子分光実験および解析を進めるとともに、不安定試料を実験を行うために必要となる装置整備(グローブボックスを立ち上げ)に着手した。
更に、軟X線に比較してより多様な試料に対応出来る硬X線光電子ホログラフィー装置の開発を進めている。今年度は、観測機器の製作、架台の製作を進め、SPring-8へ搬入する準備が完了した。

Reason

微小重力環境での酸化物融体の熱物性計測に関しては、70%以上の溶融成功確率を維持し、目標としていた酸化物融体の熱物性計測に成功している。試料も無事に宇宙から帰還して、更なる分析が進められている。非晶質材料における超秩序構造の探索においてはゼオライトを出発原料とする非晶質SiO2の永久高密度化及び13族置換したリン酸塩ガラスにおいて、構造と特性に関する重要な知見が得られている。
軟X線ホログラフィー分光装置を用いた研究では多くの機能性材料について局所構造研究が進められるとともに、不安定な試料の測定に対応するためのグローブボックスの設置など、更なる装置改良を進めている。硬X線光電子ホログラフィー分光器の開発は、来年度(2024年度)のSPring-8への設置に向けて、着実に組み立て及び試験が進められた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究は、来年度最終年であるため、成果のまとめを意識して研究を進める予定である。微小重力環境での高温酸化物融体の熱物性計測・量子ビームと地上装置群を用いた非晶質材料の超秩序構造の探索については、継続して実験/測定を進めるとともに、これまで得られたデータのまとめ(論文化)を進める。軟X線光電子ホログラフィー分光装置を用いた研究においても新規研究対象材料のデータ取得を進める一方で、データのまとめを行う。硬X線対応の光電子ホログラフィー分光装置の開発については、2024年度にSPring-8に搬入してかみ合わせ試験を実施する。
