Outline of Research at the Start

太陽系外惑星の直接撮像のための新しいアイデアを使ったコントラストの高いイメージングの理論的・実験的な実証を行う。また、既存の望遠鏡にこの新しいアイデアを実現するための高コントラスト装置を追加して、天体を使った実証実験を実施する。その有効性を実際の観測条件にある天体で示すことで、太陽系外惑星の直接撮像の従来の限界を突破する。最終的には将来の地上超巨大望遠鏡や宇宙望遠鏡に組み込み、太陽系外惑星の直接撮像を達成する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1. 実験室に実験系を構築し、CDI-SAN法の実証実験を行ってきた。実験系には可変形鏡、高速カメラを導入し、これらの制御にはPCを用いた。実験では、まず、可変形鏡の制御によりスペックルを抑制し、ダークホールを形成する。変動により残留するスペックルに対して、CDI-SAN法を適用し、後処理により残留スペックルを減算する。この結果、8桁レベルのコントラストを達成した。また、CDI-SAN法をFPGAに実装し高速化を行なった。
2. Roman Space Telescopeは、口径2.4mのNASAの次期光学赤外線望遠鏡ミッションで、広視野赤外線サーベイを主目的としながらも、High Contrastによる系外惑星直接観測を狙うコロナグラフと補償光学の試験装置も搭載され、将来における第2の地球の本格的な発見と調査に必要な技術実証も目的とされている。CDI-SAN法は、Romanで試験する価値のある方法と考え、多数のチャンネルを通じてプッシュしているところである。その実現のためにも、実証実験を推進している。CDI-SAN法を京都大学の所有するせいめい望遠鏡の補償光学システムに実装するための検討を行なってきている。また、ハワイ観測所すばる望遠鏡の太陽系外惑星研究のためのコロナグラフ極限補償光学グループ(Subaru Coronagraph Extreme Adaptive Optics、SCExAO)と協力し、SCExAOの実装の可能性を議論した。
3. 神戸大学の米田氏と共同で、強度輸送方程式の数値シミュレーションにおけるデータ解析手法に大気ゆらぎモデルが応用できるか検討した。電気通信大学の渡邉氏と大気ゆらぎモデルを応用した光伝搬解析について共同で検討した。

Current Status of Research Progress

Reason

1. 実験系を用いた実験室実証は計画どおり実験系の構築が完了し、8桁のコントラストまで達成できている。数値シミュレーション上ではさらに高いコントラストが得られるため、コントラスト向上を阻んでいる要因の追求をしているが、予想よりは難航し、決定的な要因特定までは到達できていない。可変型鏡の形状の誤差、あたえる変調の精度、迷光、振動など様々な要因を区別してトラブルシュートを実施し、要因の絞り込みを行っている。
2. Romanへの提案については、関係者と連携をして着実に進めてきており、おおむね順調に進展している。またせいめい望遠鏡やすばる望遠鏡へのCDI-SAN法の適用についても検討が進められている。こちらも概ね順調である。
3. 他の計画研究との連携は、神戸大学や電気通信大学などと始めており少しずつ増えてきている。概ね順調である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

1. CDI-SAN法の実証実験について、現在、8桁にコントラストがとどまっている原因を究明し、さらに高いコントラストの達成を目指す。また、1kHzレベルの高速な制御の実現を目指す。CDI-SAN法を実装したFPGAに、ダークホール形成の制御についての実装を進める。また、位相変調素子(可変型鏡)の形状の精度を高めるため、位相分解能を向上させる。位相分解能高度化機器とそれに対応した可変型鏡を選定、購入する。撮像カメラと制御系とを組み合わせて実験系を構築し、コントラスト向上を評価・実証する。
2. ROMAN宇宙望遠鏡のCoronagraph Community Participation Programへの参加を、日本側の取りまとめ担当者を通して進めていく。
3. 神戸大学と電気通信大学と始まった共同研究を進める。また、領域融合推進班メンバーとともに、連携する計画研究が抱える対象、研究テーマからインプットを受けて、光波残差の空間情報の多様化と時間方向の多様化、空間光変調量と時間スケール、様々な光強度など多様な応用範囲に対応する。
