Outline of Research at the Start

制御性の高い量子物質である冷却原子系を用い、その非平衡ダイナミクスを実験室で解明することを通じて極限宇宙のブラックホールの本質に迫る。具体的には、光トラップ中の孤立した冷却原子系に対して (I)外部環境との相互作用による散逸や測定によって起こる相転移現象(測定誘起量子相転移)、(II)量子情報の非局所化(スクランブリング)の指標となる非時間順序相関、の実験的観測および理論構築を推進する。前者はブラックホールで実現していると考えられる量子誤り訂正機構の理解、相転移近傍でのエンタングルメントの性質の解明が、後者は量子ブラックホールとゲージ重力対応する量子多体系のスクランブリングの理解が見込める。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

当該年度の実験では、前年度までに達成したリチウム(Li)のフェルミオン同位体6Liのフェッシュバッハ分子6Li2のBose-Einstein凝縮に引き続き、6Liのフェルミ縮退を達成した。並行して測定誘起相転移の観測と非時間順序相関関数(OTOC)の測定を実現するための光源および光学系の製作・評価を進めた。測定誘起相転移の観測およびOTOCの測定両方の舞台となる光格子系の準備については、光学系の構築及び光格子ポテンシャルの評価を行い、pulsed latticeによる運動量キックの方法を用いてx軸およびy軸について周期性に基づく原子波回折パターンを確認した。また、測定誘起相転移の実現に向けた準備として、光トラップ中のフェルミ縮退した6Li原子気体において光会合による分子形成・原子ロス共鳴の観測に成功した。
将来的な冷却原子実験を念頭においた理論研究として、中島らは、Altland-Zirnbauerクラスに属するトポロジカル相を冷却原子系を用いて実現する手法を提案した。手塚らは、量子ブラックホールとホログラフィック対応をもつ量子系であるSachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK)模型に関連し、同模型のフェルミオンのかわりにスピン演算子を考えても、準位統計が似た性質を示すことを発見した。山本とMarmoriniは、成分ごとの粒子数比を制御したSU(3)対称性を有するアルカリ土類金属原子気体の系において、連続対称性を持つ2次元系における自発的対称性の破れが生じる新たなメカニズムを発見した。また、山本らは、そのようなSU(N)対称性を持つ原子気体を量子領域の温度まで効率的に冷やす新たな方法も提案した。森らは、開放量子系の自己相関関数の減衰の上界を与える対称化リウビリアンギャップを導入した。また、森は、量子多体系全体に弱い散逸がある場合のスペクトルギャップの特異性を発見した。

Reason

当該年度の実験では、リチウム(Li)原子の量子縮退領域までの冷却、光格子系の構築、および測定誘起相転移と深く関連する「量子Zeno効果」の観測を目指して研究を遂行した。このうち冷却に関しては6Li2のBose-Einstein凝縮に引き続き、6Liのフェルミ縮退を達成した。またpulsed latticeによる原子波回折パターンから光格子ポテンシャルの構築が確認できている。また測定誘起相転移の実現に向けた準備として、光トラップ中のフェルミ縮退した6Li原子気体において光会合による分子形成・原子ロス共鳴の観測に成功した。光格子中の冷却原子系に対してこの光会合光を導入することで量子Zeno効果による量子相の変化が観測できると期待されるが、実験担当者の異動に伴う実験室の引越しにより光格子系を含む実験系が解体されたため、光格子中での確認は異動先での実験系再構築後となる。
理論面でも、光格子中の冷却原子気体の量子相や、開放量子系のリウビリアンのスペクトルとダイナミクスの関係、重力系とホログラフィック対応をもつ量子多体系の提案、ボソン系の量子計算の精度の古典計算による評価法の提案など、研究課題に沿った成果が得られた。計画研究A01との連携により、時間依存しないハミルトニアンに基づくダイナミクスによる量子状態のスクランブリングの成否を調べた論文も年度終了直後に出版が決まった。
これら実験と理論の進捗を合わせて考えると、全体の進捗としては、おおむね順調に進んでいると言える。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

実験担当者は、前年度後半に異動に伴う実験室の引越しがあったため、今年度はまず実験系の早急な再立ち上げに取り組む。Li原子を量子縮退領域まで冷却する真空系・レーザー冷却系および前年度前半に構築した光格子系の早期の復旧を目指す。あわせて、今後の非時間順序相関関数測定に必要となる、磁場勾配生成用の追加コイルと、前年度までにテスト系において分解能を確認したエンタングルメント・エントロピー測定のための高分解能光学系を、実験系の復旧時に組み込むことを目指す。また平行して、測定誘起相転移の観測に向けた、Li2分子を光会合で生成するための光会合レーザーの周波数決定および安定化を進める。
量子多体系の時間発展や、非平衡定常状態の古典コンピュータのみでは困難なシミュレーションについて、量子計算機を活用して実現する方法を開拓する。また、これらの量子計算の精度と、量子計算機の規模や特性との関係を、古典計算の範囲で評価する研究を進める。
量子情報の非局在化である量子誤り訂正が、量子多体系のダイナミクスで実現するか否かについて、エンタングルメント容量のような系のエンタングルメントを特徴づける量の大小との関係を明らかにする。
