Outline of Research at the Start

量子情報と重力理論をつなぐ「笠-高柳公式」を端緒として、「重力理論の宇宙は量子情報(量子ビット)の集合体である」という予想が得られ、国際的に注目されている。本研究では、この予想を素粒子論に量子情報の視点を導入することで発展させ、「極限宇宙」の一つである「量子宇宙」の物理法則を解明する。この目的のために、まず量子物質と重力理論の対応関係である「ゲージ重力対応」に対して量子情報理論的な解釈を発展させ、その知見をもとにゲージ重力対応の基礎原理を解明する。さらに、この基礎原理を現実の宇宙を含むような一般の時空へ拡張することで、量子宇宙を記述する物理法則を明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度は,(1)ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理と、(2)量子情報の不等式を用いた場の量子論の性質解明、(3)新しい量子情報量の開拓、などの研究テーマに関して大きな成果を得た。まず、(1)では、現在でも未解明であり宇宙創成を説明する理論の鍵を担うと期待される「ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理」を基礎から解明するために、ドジッター宇宙の幾何学的対称性に注目して解析を行った。その対称性を共形場理論に結び付け、特にドジッター宇宙の一点を励起した場合に、それが共形場理論でどのように記述されるか計算を行った。その結果、よくしられている反ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理(AdS/CFT対応)とは異なり、CPT変換で移りあう2つの状態の線形結合を取る必要があることが分かった。このことからドジッター宇宙に対応する量子論はCPT変換がゲージ化されているという重要な事実が明らかになった。
(2)では、量子情報理論で重要な基本的な不等式である強劣加法性を用いて、境界を持つ空間における場の量子論における繰り込み群の単調性を意味するg定理を幾何学的に導出することに成功した。ホログラフィー原理を考慮すると、量子情報理論の不等式によってワームホール時空が禁止されるという量子重力理論の観点からも重要な結果も導かれた。
(3)では、マルチエントロピーと呼ばれる最近導入された量子情報量を共形場理論に対して計算する手法を開発した。二体間の量子相関はエンタングルメント・エントロピーで測ることができることはよく知られているが、多体の量子相関の測度に関しては現在でも理解が乏しい。しかし、その候補として最近マルチエントロピーが導入され、ホログラフィー原理との関係が指摘されている。この研究では、我々は、上記の手法を用いて、マルチエントロピーがホログラフィー原理から予言される性質を持つことも導いた。

Reason

本年度は、計画研究C01が目的としている量子情報理論を用いた量子宇宙の研究において、想定以上の多くの成果が生まれ、査読論文14本を出版し、国際集会における招待講演14件を行った。特に、ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理に関する顕著な成果を得た。反ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理は、理論物理学の難問である量子重力理論を場の量子論の立場で解析できることから、量子重力理論の重要なアプローチとなっているが、現実の宇宙に対しては適用できないことが大きな問題となっていた。したがって、現実の宇宙に近いドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理を理解することは喫緊の課題と言えるが、対応する場の量子論が非ユニタリーになるという厄介な問題が起こることがしられていた。我々の研究では、ドジッター宇宙の幾何構造を注意深く見ることで、対応する非ユニタリー共形場理論の構造を明らかにすることに成功した。通常とは大きく異なる共役操作を導入する必要があることが分かり、それを用いると、重力理論との対応が明確に導出できることも示すことができた。量子宇宙に対する量子重力理論の解明に向けて大きな鍵となる成果と言える。この成果が評価され、研究代表者はインドICTS研究所の冠レクチャーであるInfosys-ICTS Chandrasekhar Lecturesに招待された。マルチエントロピーという新しい量子情報量の場の量子論の性質を開拓する成果を挙げたことも特筆すべきである。他にも、長年の懸案であった、境界のある空間における場の量子論における基本的性質であるg定理を量子情報理論の基礎的な不等式から証明することにも成功したことは、もともと想定していなかった成果である。研究代表者の高柳は一連の研究成果が評価され、理論物理学分野のみを対象とした賞の中で世界最高峰の国際賞といえるICTPディラックメダルを2024年8月に受賞した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

来年度は、主に(1)ドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理におけるダイナミクスの解明、と(2)量子多体系におけるマルチエントロピーの性質の解明、の二つの方向性を推進したい。(1)では、ドジッター宇宙と共形場理論の対応をエンタングルメント・エントロピーの一般化である擬エントロピーの観点で定式化したい。具体的には、まず非ユニタリーな共形場理論の励起状態のダイナミクスを擬エントロピーの部分領域依存性に着目し、偏微分方程式を見出す。一方、ドジッター宇宙における重力場の摂動を解析し、極値曲面の面積の端点の変形に対する偏微分方程式を導出する。そして、この両者の方程式が一致することを確かめたい。この一致は、擬エントロピーのダイナミクスが、そのままドジッター宇宙のダイナミクスに一致することを意味し、これによってドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理の一つの定式化が得られる。(2)の研究では、2024年度の研究で、場の量子論における計算法が開発されたマルチエントロピーと呼ばれる多体量子相関を測る量を、スピン系など量子多体系で解析し、連続極限に近い極限をとることで場の量子論の結果と比較したい。場の量子論の計算は、共形場理論のレプリカ法に基づき、いくつかの仮定のもと。数理物理的な手法で計算されたもので、これが本当に量子多体系の計算で再現されるかどうかは重要な点である。具体的には、自由スカラー場を格子に離散化した模型におけるガウシアン的計算や、横磁場イジング模型におけるDMRG法による計算を行いたい。またこれら以外にも、平坦な時空のホログラフィー原理の開拓にも取り組みたい。具体的には、AdS/BCFT対応と呼ばれる、境界を持つ空間における共形場理論のホログラフィー原理を用いる。この時に現れる世界の果てブレーン上に平坦な時空を実現することで、AdS/BCFTにこの問題を埋め込み解析する予定である。
