Outline of Research at the Start

量子情報と重力理論をつなぐ「笠-高柳公式」を端緒として、「重力理論の宇宙は量子情報(量子ビット)の集合体である」という予想が得られ、国際的に注目されている。本研究では、この予想を素粒子論に量子情報の視点を導入することで発展させ、「極限宇宙」の一つである「量子宇宙」の物理法則を解明する。この目的のために、まず量子物質と重力理論の対応関係である「ゲージ重力対応」に対して量子情報理論的な解釈を発展させ、その知見をもとにゲージ重力対応の基礎原理を解明する。さらに、この基礎原理を現実の宇宙を含むような一般の時空へ拡張することで、量子宇宙を記述する物理法則を明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

研究代表者の高柳は当科研費で雇用されているHarper氏と共同で、昨年度導入した時間的エンタングルメント・エントロピーの解析をブラックホール時空に拡張し、BTZブラックホールにおけるこの量の値を解析的に計算し、ゲージ重力対応で対応が期待される2次元共形場理論の結果との一致を確かめた。これによって励起状態に対しても時間的エンタングルメントがうまく定義できることが分かった。また高柳は、計画研究A01で雇用されている量子情報理論が専門のポスドク研究員Parzygnat氏と共同で、エンタングルメント・エントロピーを始状態と終状態の両方に依存するような一般化されたエントロピーの定義(SVDエントロピー)を見出した。同様の目的で定義された擬エントロピーとは異なり、中間状態の量子エンタングルメントの量という量子情報理論な明確な解釈を与えることに成功した。さらに高柳は計画研究D02の研究代表者の奥西氏との共同研究で、厳密に解けるシンプルな模型であるベーテ格子上のスピンの理論がゲージ重力対応の特にp進数の場合とみなせることを見出した。

研究分担者の杉本は、M理論におけるある滑らかな背景時空がタイプ0A弦理論と呼ばれる超対称性のない弦理論で境界のある時空に対応することを見出した。研究分担者の奥山は2重極限を取ったSYK模型(DSSYK)について研究し、JT重力に現れる世界の果てブレーンやWeil-Petersson体積がDSSYKに一般化した。研究分担者の疋田は複素数に値を取るよう拡張した量子重力の研究を行なった。近年提唱した初期宇宙におけるゲージ重力対応を応用し、可能な複素時空の分類を行い、実際に無からの宇宙生成に用いられる時空が実現されることを示した。研究分担者の関野はゲージ重力対応を、ゲージ理論が弱結合というこれまで理解が進んでいない極限において「弦のビット」描像を用いて解析した。

Reason

本計画研究の目的は、量子情報理論や量子多体系の分野との異分野融合によって、いまだにその基礎原理がよくわかっていないゲージ重力対応を解明し、さらに現実の宇宙に見られる加速膨張する宇宙へ拡張することである。今年度は、計画研究のA01(量子情報が専門)とD02(量子多体系、テンソルネットワークが専門)の研究者と顕著な共同研究の成果を挙げることができた。前者では、SVDエントロピーと呼ぶ、量子情報理論的に良い解釈を与えることができる新しいエントロピー量を定義することに成功し、今までの擬エントロピーが持つ問題を解決することができた。今後は、重力理論におけるSVDエントロピーの意義の解明などが期待され、今後の方向を大きく開拓することができた。素粒子論の研究者と量子情報理論の研究者の異分野融合共同研究によってはじめて成し遂げられた成果である高く評価できる。後者では、未だ謎が多い、ゲージ重力対応の基礎メカニズムを、比較的簡単な統計模型であるベーテ格子のスピン系を考えることでその一端を明らかにすることができた。これは素粒子論と物性理論の研究者の異分野融合による画期的な成果といえる。また、量子重力理論の解明に関しても、二次元JT重力の解析をDSSYKを通じて行うことで多数の成果を得ることができたことも大いに評価に値する。今年度に、18本の論文を出版することができ、研究代表者の高柳は、8回の招待講演を国際集会で行った。特に、UCバークレーのサイモンズ研究所で開催された計算科学の研究者が主催する国際集会で、高柳が本年度の成果を発表し、量子計算の専門家との異分野交流を行い、双方に大きな刺激を与えたことも大いに評価できる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

来年度に行う研究の一つとして、ゲージ重力対応におけるエンタングルメント・エントロピーの一般化としてマルチエントロピーと呼ばれる量に注目して研究を行いたい。エンタングルメント・エントロピーは、二体間の量子的な相関の度合を測る量であるが、多体の相関をどのように量子情報的な量で表現するのかは大きな問題であった。最近海外のグループがマルチエントロピーというエンタングルメント・エントロピーを多体相関に一般化した量を導入し、ゲージ重力対応での幾何学的計算も示唆されている。事前の研究で、2次元共形場理論のレプリカ法を用いた解析法を高柳とHarperは既に見出している。また、膨張宇宙の代表例であるドジッター宇宙のゲージ重力対応の理解を進めることも本計画研究の重要な目標である。この方向性に関して以下の2つの研究を予定している。一つが、3次元ドジッター宇宙のキリングベクトルやそれがなす代数など、幾何学的な構造に着目して、対応する共形場理論の構造を解明する研究である。昨年度の高柳と疋田の研究で、対応する共形場理論は、非ユニタリーであることが予想され、その非自明な共役操作や内積などの定義を幾何学的に解明したい。具体的には、ドジッター宇宙の一点を励起した状態をどのように共形場理論で記述するのか解析する。ドジッター宇宙のもう一つの研究は、昨年度の研究で解析したドジッター宇宙を半分に切った時空を今後は、もう半分に(重力相互作用がない)共形場理論のみをおいたものを結合させるセットアップを考える。このときに共形場理論の部分系のエンタングルメント・エントロピーをアイランド公式を用いて計算する。これによって、間接的にドジッター宇宙のホログラフィー原理を解析することができ、その領域の情報がドジッター宇宙のどの部分と対応するのか分かると期待される。そのほかに2次元JT重力の非摂動効果についても引き続き研究を行う。
