学術変革領域(A)「2.5次元物質科学」において、本分析班(A03班)の役割は、2.5次元物質で発現する特異な構造や電子状態の解明に資する分析手法や技術を開発し、2.5次元物質科学の学術の発展を支えることにある。具体的には、本班が供する先端分析技術やそこから明らかとなる学術的知見を通して、集積化を含む物質創製や新奇物性、機能創出によるデバイス応用研究などを支援するとともに、「2.5次元物質科学」の基盤となる分析科学の学理を担う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

学術変革領域(A)「2.5次元物質科学」において、本分析班(A03班)の役割は、2.5次元物質で発現する特異な構造や電子状態の解明に資する分析手法や技術を開発し、その学術の発展を支えることにある。具体的には、本班が供する先端分析技術やそこから明らかとなる学術的知見を通して、集積化を含む物質創製や新奇物性、機能創出によるデバイス応用研究などを支援するとともに、「2.5次元物質科学」の基盤となる分析科学の学理を担う事を目的としている。
2.5次元物質の研究に最適化した先端光学分析手法の高度化を進めた。特に、二次元物質を積層し生じるモアレ構造などの特異な電子系を対象として、極低温発光分光、コヒーレント時間分解分光などの先端光学手法を適用し、その量子光学特性を明らかにできた。電子顕微鏡技術については、その原子レベル構造と光学特性の関連付けを目指した研究を行った。モアレ構造や内包構造について、電子顕微鏡を用いてその原子レベル構造を明らかにしながら電子分光による吸収測定を行い、その特異な物性を明らかにした。角度分解光電子分光を用いた研究に関しては、これまでに二次元物質におけるバンド構造を精密に測定する手法を確立しており、それを用いて天然には存在しない二次元結晶やその複雑積層体における電子構造の直接計測を行った。さらに、角度分解光電子分光測定と電子回折およびX線回折を用いた結晶構造の精密構造評価を併用することで、電子構造と結晶構造の関係を相補的に明らかにする技術の開発を進めた。X線回折技術として、グラフェンインタカレーションのその場観察実験を行った。また、SPring-8のタンパク質構造解析ビームラインおよびナノビームX線回折ビームラインを用いた、10マイクロメートルサイズのデバイスの構造評価を開始し、それらの実験を行うための実験環境の整備を行った。

Reason

先端光学分光技術については、第二高調波発生によるヘテロ構造のツイスト角度を、測定と解析手法の高度化により、精度よくかつ高速に計測可能となり、領域内外の共同研究に供した。また、コヒーレント時間分解分光などの先端光学手法を確立し、モアレ励起子が関与する量子光学特性を明らかにできた。電子顕微鏡技術として、二層グラフェンのモアレ構造に依存した光学遷移について実験的に測定することが可能になった。価電子損失スペクトルではそのモアレ依存性を測定することが以前から可能であったが、今回は内殻励起スペクトルにおいてもモアレに由来する吸収が測定できることが明らかになった。これにより、モアレユニット内での励起子特性が調べられるようになる。光電子分光技術として、天然には存在しない結晶構造を有する二次元結晶のツイスト積層体や、単層ヤヌス遷移金属ダイカルコゲナイド、歪みを加えた単層遷移金属ダイカルコゲナイドを研究対象として、顕微角度分解光電子分光による電子構造の観測を行った。積層や元素置換、歪みによる結晶構造の対称性の制御によって変化したバンド構造を直接観測することが可能となった。また、精密X線回折技術として、タンパク質構造解析ビームライン、ナノビームX線回折ビームラインともにマイクロメートルサイズのデバイスの評価が十分可能であることを示すことができつつある。現在は、面間のみではなく、面内の構造を調べるための解析環境の整備を進めている。若干の変更で、単結晶構造解析に使用されているソフトウェアを援用可能なことが判明し、測定した試料の単位格子で見たa,b,c軸方向を特定することができつつある。
上記の進展を鑑みて、当初の計画以上に研究が進展していると判断した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本年度に引き続き、2.5次元物質の研究のための様々な分析手法の開発と高度化を進め、それを領域内外に広く提供し共同研究を推進する予定である。特に、この系に合わせて最適化した新たな先端光学計測を構築し、引き続き、モアレ構造における特異な量子光学特性に関する情報を得る。また、グラフェンや遷移金属ダイカルコゲナイドにおいて、アルカリ金属ドープの構造・物性に及ぼす影響について明らかにしていく予定である。またp型のインターカラントについてもさらにその特異な性質を調べていく。また二次元物質の損失関数について、動的散乱の影響を定量的に明らかにしていく予定である。顕微角度分解光電子分光による電子構造の直接観測と、超高速電子顕微鏡および超短パルスX線自由電子レーザーや放射光光源を用いた、X線構造解析による結晶構造の直接計測を相補的に組み合わせることによって、新たな二次元結晶やそのツイスト積層体における物性開拓の研究を進めていく。また、インタカレーションを成功させるために、大型の試料を搭載可能なチャンバーの設計を進めている。これを使うことで5㎜角や10㎜角の試料を用いたインタカレーション実験が可能となる。インタカレーション済みの複数層グラフェンの回折データ測定から、5㎜角のサイズがあれば十分に回折データを測定できることが判明しているため、装置が完成すればインタカレーションのその場観察が実施できると期待している。また、ナノデバイス評価についてはX線照射位置の精密決定ができていないため、これを行うための手法開発を進める予定である。
