社会のなかには、近所づきあいや趣味のサークルをはじめ、さまざまなコミュニティが存在する。コミュニティ内部では、人びとの間の「つながり」があり、それが助け合いや争いごとを起こし、コミュニティの変化の仕方やレジリエンスといったものの源泉となっている。このようなコミュニティのダイナミズムの源泉となる「つながり」は、社会科学分野でひろく注目されている。本研究では、コミュニティやその内部における「つながり」などの社会的概念を、実際の人間のコミュニティに関する知見を蓄積しながら、社会的選択理論とゲーム理論の二つを応用して数理的定式化を行い、細胞のコミュニティの動態を解析するための手法を開発する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research conducts theoretical and mathematical analyses of communities and related concepts, with a focus on social choice theory and game theory. In particular, it combines axiomatic methods with evolutionary game dynamics to investigate the nature of rationality criteria in contexts involving population change, interspecies balance, intra-group equality, and the evolutionary foundations of majority rule. By identifying structural parallels between human and cellular communities, the study also explores transformations in “connectedness” and “social relations,” drawing on empirical findings from immigration studies and research on mechanisms of discrimination. Additionally, the project examines opinion formation processes in the aftermath of tragic events, using real-world cases. To better understand the dynamic evolution of communities, it incorporates simulation analyses, social surveys, and imaging data related to cellular movement.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
これまで、ゲーム理論アプローチと社会的選択理論の集計アプローチは、関連性を認められつつも、密接な結びつきがあったとは言い難い。これらの結びつきを検討しながら、多細胞の解析という、これまで試みられてこなかった文理融合の課題をおこなった。また、こうした文理融合の研究の可能性をできるだけ広くアウトリーチすることにも積極的に取り組んできた。
