Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、物性物理におけるランダムネス、電子相関の効果の問題を解決する手法を、本学術変革の他班で行う素粒子・原子核物理学の手法や,数理物理的アプローチ,統計力学的アプローチを積極的に取り入れて開発する。これによりランダムネス,電子相関の効果の問題を統一的に捉え、新しい物質開発の指針を作る。量子力学で物性物理学は大きく変わった。これを物性物理学1.0と捉え,今回,機械学習で物性物理学を変革し物性物理学2.0を構築する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度に続き,本年度も研究体制の整備を行った。総括班と密接に連絡を取りながら物性物理学の分野全体に貢献できるよう広報,情報公開を行った。また研究会を7月と1月の2回にわたり開催し,公募研究で採択された研究グループと積極的に連携を図った。また,今年度から採用されたインターフェース准教授,および博士研究員との共同研究も積極的に行った。
研究面では,これまで行ってきたランダムな波動関数の分類のテクニックを生かして,様々なランダム行列モデルを解析した。特にランダムな多体量子系(random regular graph,およびSYKモデル)の臨界点を評価することができた。また,最近急速に発展している大規模言語モデルの基礎となるtransformerを画像認識に応用したVision transformer技術を波動関数の分類に応用し,大まかな相図が迅速に描けるようになった。
こうした分類問題は通常古典計算機によって扱われているが,本プロジェクトでは量子計算機による量子機械学習によって波動関数を分類した。特に量子計算において途中で行う観測結果を破棄せずに積極的に利用することで,量子計算のパフォーマンスが劇的に改善することを指摘した。
こうした研究は静的な波動関数の解析であったが,今年度は物理量の時間発展も機械学習で解析した。これまでは時系列の分類をlong short-term memory networkで行っていたが,今年度は与えられた時系列からその後を予想することを試みた。多体量子系の時間相関関数の時系列をガウス過程回帰,dynamic mode decompositionで解析し,後者によって与えられた時系列の10倍程度先まで予測ができることを明らかにした。

当初の計画通り進行している。与えられた時系列からその先を予想する試みがうまくいけば,期待以上の進展となる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

公募研究と協力して,物性物理学のより広い分野に貢献したい。特に開発中の時系列の予測手法を実験データに応用することを,実験グループと協力して進める。また,他の計画班との協力も引き続き行っていきたい。実際,A01,B02班とはすでに共著論文が出始めているが,これをさらに拡張していく。
