Outline of Final Research Achievements

In-situ small- and wide- angle scattering / diffraction method with a use of multicolor X-rays has been successfully developed and applied for the transformation kinetics of Mg85Y9Zn6 ingot.　These in-situ measurements and experimental phase digagram studies revealed that the LPSO structures can be understood as 'phases' and the phase transition process in MgYZn is unique ｉｎ that it was initiated by phase separation under mixing instability, but further driven by structural phase transformations.
