Outline of Research at the Start

結晶中の電子が持つ対称性が破れ、非対称性(アシンメトリ)が現れることで、しばしば有用な機能が発現する。近年、結晶中の電子の持つ(非)対称性を網羅的に記述する「拡張多極子」の概念が発展している。この拡張多極子を用いることで、有用な機能の発現を理解し、新しい機能を開拓することが可能となる。本研究では、拡張多極子に関連した基礎理論を構築し、その理論を応用した大規模数値計算による未知物質の設計を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本計画研究の内容は、計画(A)「基礎理論」、計画(B)「現象論から定量的記述へ」、計画(C)「物質設計」に分けられる。本年度は、前年度に引き続き計画(A), (B)に取り組み、具体的に以下の成果を得た。
(1) 鏡映対称性の破れを伴う電気トロイダル双極子秩序における電子秩序変数の微視的起源が、格子の回転歪みに伴う中心サイトとリガンドサイト間の混成効果およびスピン軌道結合の協奏効果によるものであることを示した。また、多極子表現論を超伝導秩序変数に適用することで、多軌道系における非従来型超伝導状態の系統的分類を行った。
(2) カイラル結晶の右手系左手系界面における電子スピン反転の微視的機構を解析し、界面電子状態とスピン反転の有無が密接に関係していることを見出した。また、電流誘起磁化に対する秩序変数揺らぎの効果を数値シミュレーションにより解析し、揺らぎによって顕著に応答係数が抑制されることを見出した。
(3) 動的平均場法に基づく多極子応答計算を実際のCe化合物に応用し、実験で観測されている強磁性転移が再現できることを確認した。また動的平均場法により強相関化合物における交差相関応答を計算する手法を整備した。
(4) f電子系における多様な多極子自由度を扱うため、f軌道と混成する複数の軌道を含む多軌道周期アンダーソン模型を、DFT計算を出発点として導出した。その上で、この模型に対して強結合展開を行うことで、f電子のスピン自由度に対する第一原理有効模型を構築する手法を整備した。
(5) 対称性を考慮した第一原理模型構築として、磁化がある場合にスピンについて対称な模型構築手法を提案し、磁気異方性の計算に適用して有用性を確認した。また、物質探索の範囲拡大を念頭に、ワニエ模型ベースのCPAによる電気伝導度の計算手法を検証した。

Reason

計画(A)基礎理論については、実際の化合物や測定を念頭に、多極子秩序における交差相関応答や秩序状態の解析を着実に行っている。計画(B)については、多極子感受率や結晶の対称性を考慮に入れた有効模型の計算コードの整備が進んでいる。これにより、計画(C)に着手する準備が整ってきている。よって「おおむね順調に進展している」と判断する。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

計画(A)については、引き続き多極子秩序と交差相関応答に関する基礎理論の構築を行い、実験グループ(A01・A02)との連携も継続して行っていく。計画(B)の定量計算法の整備も引き続き行っていく。次年度は、計画(C)の物質設計にも取り組む。実験グループ(C01・C02)と連携して、対象とする物質群を絞り、計算物質に着手する。
