Outline of Research at the Start

30億年前に地球上に出現して以来、光合成生物はさまざまな環境に適応し進化を遂げた。本課題では系統樹上重要な位置を占めるる植物や緑藻、さらには環境適応を解析する上での重要種やエコタイプにも着目し、それらの光化学系超複合体の高次構造を“観て”、その集光機能を“測り”、さらに得られた情報を領域内の力を結集して“繋ぐ”ことで、水中から陸上への進化、冬季耐性等の季節変動、乾燥等の環境変動に対する環境適応原理、特に光化学系ユビキティの解明を目指す。
