Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The Jurassic paleogeography of the Earth consists of Laurasia and Gondwana continents and their intervening Neotethys. West Asia was located at the most inner part of Neotethys around under the paleo-equator and its location was much affected by upwelling currents; the faunal high productivity was strongly favorable. Because the coral reefs formed in the tropical and subtropical regions, the carbonate platform would be extensively developed on the side of the Arabian continent. West Asia would be a favorable region for the depositional place of the limestone-radiolarite association. After the Arabian plate was separated from African plate, the Arabian plate was collided with Eurasian plate and the Zagros Mountains including the limestone-radiolarite association was built. The Zagros Mountains was the place providing limestone caves as dwelling and radiolarite stone tools as raw materials for and must be irreplaceable regions for ancient Homo sapience.
