ヒトゲノムの約17%を占めるLINE-1の多くは機能不明なRNAを産生するが、近年、これらが神経細胞の恒常性を攪乱するperRNAとして精神疾患に関与する可能性が示唆されている。本研究では、死後脳や公的データを用い、精神疾患関連のハイリスクLINE-1由来RNAを同定し、その発現制御機構と機能を解明することで、神経系におけるperRNAの基本原理に迫る。
