Research Abstract |
Crab-eating monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) living in Mauritius are traditionary said to be a descendant of original animals that introduced from South-east Asia about 450 years ago. Field investigation was carried out in order to evaluate their biological characteristics such as clinical examination, genetic variability, and morphological findings. More than two hundreds of samples were obtained in Island and analysis on parasites, virus, hematology, blood protein polymorphysm and somatometry are performed.
