Research Abstract |
The research was conducted at Simao and Xishuangbanna, southern Yunnan, during September to October especially on: 1. the phylogenetic and biogeographical studies of tachinid flies (Diptera, Tachinidae), 2. the ethological and ecological studies of attelabid weevils (Coleoptera, Attelabidae), and 3. the ethological and ecological studies of stenogastrine wasps (Hymenoptera, Vespidae). Main results found at present are as follows: 1. Some 2500 tachinid specimens comprising some 150 species were collected. They are more than twice of the specimens preserved in the Kunming Institute of Zoology. Some biogeographically important groups were found among them. 2. Many cradles and newly emerged weevils of members of the subfamily Attelabinae were collected. Cradles of an unknown type were newly found out and the process of their formation was recorded. 3. Stenogastrine wasps were ethologically and ecologically surveyed in Yunnan for the first time. One new species is interesting because its affinities have been known only from mountaineous areas of Borneo and Sumatra.
