Research Abstract

The aim of this study is to clear the historical position of Thrace from prehistoric age to medieval age. Since 1983 Tokai University party is excavating at Djadovo in Sliven District Bulgaria in cooperation with Bulgarian and Dutch parties. We are also doing the research on the distribution of prehistoric sites in Thrace and the study of Thracian history to medieval age. In 1989 we continued these studies.
The surveying area of Tokai University party is 350m^2 including in 14 grids J-N/23-25, which are located in the northern side of the central profile wall.We dug down some 15 cm on an average in each gride and we investigated 9 ovens, 3 pitos,a bull's skull pit and a medieval pit. Except a medieval pit, every structures belong to the middle bronze age.
We also performed to make the drawings about the east side of the central section wall, collected the fragments for radiocarbon dating and tried the kite-photograph.
We augmented the examples of the surveyed structures which are dwellings with ovens. But the elucidation of organization on this settlement is lefting in future works.
For the research of the prehistoric sites, we carried out the survey of 33 sites and enriched the materials on the map of prehistoric sites which will be make with cooperation from Bulgarian side.
For the Thracian history, we visited many historical sites;Pleslav,Stara-Zagora,Kazanlak,Sipka,Tarnovo,Sumen,Madara,Pliska,Preslav,Kabile. Then we obtained many references on our study by the observation of remains and the familiar talk with the persons concerned.
