Research Abstract |
The main purpose of this project is to achieve a archeological investigation of the Middle Kingdom subterranean tomb which was found last season. The most striking funerary material is a wooden ship model. In this season it was taken out in close cooperation with some conservative scientists. Various kinds of remains were gained in the accumulated soil of the tomb, and three box-type coffins were found on the tomb floor. It is thought that these results will go a long way toward elucidating the political condition of the Middle Kingdom. Concerning about the tomb investigation, the west end of the Temple Area was digged deeply and reached to the Late Period layer.
