Research Abstract

Using "KALIF", pulse power generator in KfK, we have carried out several experiments on "Plasma Focus Diode" (PFD). The results can be summarized as follows.
1. Optimization of PFD; Under various electrodes (flat or tapered cathode, by changing length, etc.), we succeeded in optimization of PFD on KALIF. Excellent focusing of ion beam was obtained, the minimum focusing radius of - 0.2 mm. 2. Diagnostics of number of protons by LiF activation; Using LiF target, we succeeded in determination of number of protons and/or proton current. Power density of protons was estimated to be - 0.3 TW/cm^2 at beam energy of - 1.6 MeV. 3. Time-resolved measurement of proton energy; Time-resolvable energy spectrometer was successfully developed, where the beam energy is simultaneously determined with and without the target in one shot.
