Research Abstract

In order to research emergency tranport system, we visited Graz and Vienna in Austria from 1st to 10th of October, 1989. The population of Graz and Vienna is about two hundred and fifty thousand poeple and about one million poeple respectively. Although each city in Austria has different system, the same idea is that doctors join prehospital care for emergency patients.
In Graz: The red cross headquarter control ambulance services. There are thirty ambulance cars without doctors, four doctor cars for slight illnesses, two doctor cars, two mobile ICU and two helicopters(one is spare). They have a unique system whose name is rendezvous system. That is, when emergency is happened, a doctor car leaves for the spot and meet an ambulance car there. Two helicopters are in tne airport where is 15 kms away from Graz city. One anesthesiologist and one rescuer are always waiting for a chance.
In Vienna: The emergency medical center which sixty doctors belong to control ambulance services. There are thirty two doctor cars, twenty ambulance cars with doctors, seven ambulance cars without doctors. A helicoper is in the police station. They have special ambulance cars for nuclear patients, infectious diseases, drug addicts and neonates.
