| Research Abstract |
Yoda, Gakkai (1833-1909) had kept the diary "Gakkai-Nichiroku" for forty five years form 1856 to 1901. And this diary tells us many things ; the literary world of the turning point from Edo to Meiji, the actual lives of literary men, and the attitude of Yoda, Gakkai toward the diary and Chinese poetry.
Moreover we collected his notes of Chinese poetry owned by Mukyukai Library, and made the contents of them. Especially "Gakkai-Iko" is voluminous enough to elucidate Gakkai's whole life as a Chinese poet and a man of letters.
"Gakkai-Nichiroku" must require us to rewrite the history of literature and culture in the Meiji Era.
