Research Abstract |
We Produced semi-monoenergetic neutron beams of energy of 15 to 40 MeV from 1- to 2-mm thick Be and enriched ^7Li targets bombarded by 20- to 40-MeV proton beams extracted from the SF cyclotron of Institute for Nuclear Study, University of Tokyo. By irradiating this neutron beam into the samples of ^<27>A1, ^<16>O, ^<nat>Si and ^<14>N, we measured the production rates of long-lived nuclides of ^<26>A1 (7.2x10^5 y), ^<14>C (5730 y) and ^<10>Be (1.6x10^5 y) with the surface barrier silicon detector coupled with the mass analysis line fixed on the Tandem Van-de Graaf of Research Center of Nuclear Science and Technology, University of Tokyo. We could firstly obtain the excitation functions of ^<27>A1 (n. 2n)^<26>A1, ^<16>O (n, 2pn)^<14>C, ^<nat>Si (n, pXn)^<26>A1 and ^<14>N (n, 2n3p)^<10>Be reactions and their maximum values were about 100mb, 5mb, 30mb and 10mb, respectively. We subsequently irradiated several enriched samples by using P-^7Li monoenergetic neutrons and obtained their activation cross sections.
