Research Abstract |
I have applied the enhancer trapping screen to identify genes involved in the neurogenesis during the larval and pupal stages in Drosophila. A single P element which contains a lacZ reporter gene was mobilized by supplying a genomic transpose and was randomly integrated into the genome. I have screened about 800 transformant lines carrying a single P-lacZ vector. Lines with a lacZ expression in a subset of neurons or in the neuroblast of the central nervous system were identified. These strains should provide a way to identify genes involved in the postembryonic neurogenesis and also used as specific cell makers to study neurogenesis.
