Research Abstract |
Electropolymerized conductive polymers were investigated for the purpose of applying to the active cathode materials of secondary lithium batteries. Among these polymers, we investigated polyaniline (PAn), polypyrrole (PPy) and polyazulene (PAz), and moreover their copolymers or composite polymers. An electroactive PAn is successfully obtained by electropolymerization from nonaqueous solution of propylene carbonate (PC) containing organic acid and LiClO_4. The most important factor to form electroactive PAn film is the existance of proton from an organic acid. Some other factors of polymerization solution, dielectric constant, viscosity and donor number, were also varied. The correlation between the battery performance using PAn cathode and the electrochemical properties of PAn film is obtained. Further, electrochemical coーpolymerization of pyrrole and azulene is well defined and fairly stoichiometric in PC solution. The battery performance is also investigated. PPy/PAn dual-layer, which has the merits or both films, is tried for the cathode materials. In this case, the PPy underlayer properties strongly affect the battery performance of Li/(PPy/PAn) battery. Finally, the Li ion transported PPy film doped with polymer anion is formed and the possibility of the application if the film th higher energy battery is shown.
