Research Abstract

(1) Failure Mechanism of Steel Plate - Concrete Composite Slabs Under Static or Dynamic (Impulsive) Loading and Their Desigin Method [ K. SONODA, H. KITOH and H. MASUYA ]: The static loading tests up to failure of 12 steel plate - concrete composite slabs (Robinson's slabs) under 2 kinds of patch load having different loading areas were carried out, and it could make clear how the stud arrangement affects the load carrying capacity and the failure modes of the slabs. Next, as a numerical approach, 3 dimensional Rigid Body Spring Model employing the coarse subdivision to express the failure modes observed in the above test was proposed and examined its applicability. While the impulsive loading tests of reinforced concrete (RC) beams were also carried out as a fundamental study on the dynamic failure mechanism of the composite structures. It could reveal the relation between impulsive load intensities and the failure modes of the RC beams.
(2) Failure Mechanism of Composite Slabs Under T … More he Repetition of Wheel Tracking [ H. OKAMURA, T. HORIKAWA and A. KURITA ]: 2 prototype composite slabs with truss-type connectors were tested using a self-driving large scaled wheel tracking apparatus at Osaka Institute of Technology. As a result, the repetition number of wheel tracking could be related to the residual deflection, crack widths and slip of steel plate.
(3) Fatigue Failure Mechanism of RC Slabs with Stiffened Steel Plate [ S.MATSUI ]: Fatigue tests of 7 specimen of so-called Robinson's slab were carried out using a wheel tracking apparatus at Osaka University. It could reveal the failure mechanism due to fatigue breaking at the base of studs, which is worth to be fundamental data to establish the design method for the composite slabs.
(4) Residual Deformation Characteristics of Continuous Composite Girder Under Wheel Tracking [ T. TANIHIRA ]: The numerical simulation and the experiment of 2-span continuous composite girders were carried out.
