Research Abstract |
As a continuation of out work being carried out in Sabah since 1979, we studied behavior and evolution of small animals in Sarawak, in collaboration with Forest Research section and National Park & Wildlife section of Forest Department, Sarawak. Our work wad conducted from 12th Decemder, 1990 to 13th February, 1991, in Niah District and Kelabit Highland and Mt. Serapi at Matang. Our research team in Sarawak consisted of four investigators, M. Matsui, T. Hikida, David Labang and Abang Abdul Hamid, and two research collaborators, T. Hayashi and K. Araya. Subjects of research for memebers have been : 1. Life histories and habitats of Bornean lucanid beetles. 2. Colony composition and habitats of passalid beetles. 3. Social behavior and activtity of the flying lizards. 4. On a frog which breeds in the pitchers of Nepenthes. 5. Thermal ecology of frogs and toads. 6. Thermal ecology of tropical lizards. 7. Acoustic characterization of frogs and toads. 8. Karyotaxonomy of frogs and small lizards. 9. Faunal survey of amphibians and reptiles in Sarawak.
