Research Abstract |
Research on magnetic and superconducting properties of rare earth and actinide compounds is the most interesting subject. In this field, there was remarkable progress for last 10 years and still exciting discoveries and theoretical development are continuously in progress. On the other hand, the fruitful results are in enthusiastic anticipation for the application to modern technology. In the new exotic superconductivity in rare earth and actinide compounds, there is an interplay between magnetism and superconductivity. In this system, the magnetic and superconducting properties show many aspects corresponding to experimental condition, For this study, mutually supplementary research techniques are required. Grenoble is the research center of European community where 20, 000 people are engaged in fundamental research work. By the collaboration with Dr. J. Flouquet and his group, we have a merit to perform neutron scattering and heat capacity experiments down to 50mK in addition to the experiments of our Japanese side, as SQUID magnetization, NMR, specific heat measurement and the experiment under and ultra-high pulse magnetic field. The purpose of our international collaboration is concerned with the research on the interplay between magnetism and superconductivity and the magnetic properties in the coexisting system of quadrupolar and exchange interactions.
